Description

The Pond is an engaging, simple parable to help generate positive ideas and actions toward successful transition during times of change.

When the animals living in a once peaceful, stable pond find themselves dealing with a world they perceive to be dramatically changing, they become indecisive, panicky, and quarrelsome. They soon realize that only when they undertake reasonable risks, their individual and organizational capabilities are awakened. They eventually realize that much of what they need to improve their condition is already present. They learn that new thinking can bring about positive results and the process of change can actually become empowering and exciting.

Change in organizations, whether in the workplace, community groups, or even in family life, is inevitable. While some individuals welcome change and thrive on the opportunities it presents, many people find it difficult to move ahead, imagining nothing but misery along a road filled with insurmountable risk .Change management can also be a challenge even for those with past experience, as each case is unique.

For managers, leaders, and human resource professionals who are seeking tools for themselves and their teams, the story of The Pond demonstrates that change can be handled successfully. There is hope in the midst of uncertainty. Growth, trust, and smooth transition are possible through learning how to look at things anew.
